Vitamins and Minerals in Manuka
Manuka honey is best known for its MGO grading and rich flavour, but as a natural wholefood it also contains trace vitamins and minerals. Here's an honest overview — remember honey is mostly natural sugars, so these nutrients are present in small amounts. Manuka honey is a food, not a medicine, and we make no medical claims about it.
Vitamins naturally present (in trace amounts)
Manuka honey contains small amounts of B vitamins such as B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacin), B5 (pantothenic acid) and B6, plus a little vitamin C.
Minerals naturally present (in trace amounts)
It also contains trace minerals including calcium, magnesium, potassium and zinc.
Because honey is mostly sugar, it shouldn't be relied on as a primary source of vitamins or minerals — enjoy it as a flavourful, natural part of a balanced diet.
Antioxidants
Manuka honey naturally contains antioxidant compounds such as phenolics and flavonoids, which contribute to its profile.
Enjoying Manuka honey
Drizzle it over oats or yoghurt, stir it into tea, or use it as a natural sweetener in place of refined sugar. One to two teaspoons is a typical serving.
